Why this matters

Safety is important - so is fairness and clarity

Most of us support safer streets for children. But many people feel the way ANPR cameras and signs have been introduced around Much Woolton has created confusion, stress and unexpected fines.

Local families

Parents and carers need clear, fair rules so that dropping off and collecting children is safe, without the fear of hidden penalties.

Residents & traffic

Side streets are seeing changes in parking, traffic flow and driver behaviour. Your lived experience is essential to understand the full picture.

Community voice

Decisions are stronger when they are informed by the people who live here. A clear, constructive summary of community views can influence what happens next.

Key concerns we are hearing

Does any of this sound familiar?

These are examples of issues residents have already raised. The survey lets you say which ones affect you, how strongly you feel, and what you would change.

Residents in zone penalised and harassed

Have you received penalties despite being on the exemption list? Have bailiffs or enforcement agents threatened to seize your vehicle or enter your home? You are not alone – share your experience in this short survey.

Impact on surrounding streets

Has traffic been pushed onto nearby roads? Are driveways being blocked, or are there safety concerns away from the school gates?

Has it just shifted the issue and not resolved it?

The chaos is still there, along with the danger - how much has been spent on this non-solution?

Confusing or hidden signage

Are the rules clear when you enter or exit the School Street zone? Have you or someone you know received a fine you feel was unfair or unexpected?

Community voices

“We just want something that works for everyone.”

This project started because neighbours were comparing letters, talking about safety at the gates, and sharing confusion about where you can and cannot drive. Rather than just complaining on social media, we want to collect clear, constructive feedback and present it together.

Every response adds weight to the conversation. Whether you strongly support the scheme, strongly oppose it, or just want specific improvements — we want to hear from you.

“I support safer streets, but the signs are so unclear that even careful drivers are getting caught out. It feels like a trap rather than a safety measure.”

— Local parent, Much Woolton area

“I had no idea cameras were in use until a penalty notice dropped through the door. If the goal is behaviour change, people need clear warnings first.”

— Resident on a nearby street

Much Woolton School Streets ANPR Survey

Are you happy how the ANPR cameras are affecting locals and residents?

Have you experienced repeated council penalties despite being on the resident exemption list for the School Street restrictions near Much Woolton Primary School?

Have those penalties escalated into threats from bailiffs or enforcement agents, including attempts to seize vehicles or gain entry to your home?

I have.

Over the past week enforcement agents from CDER Group attended my property and placed a warning of immobilisation on my car, followed by a removal notice, despite me being a resident with an exemption. Over the past year I have continued to receive penalties related to the School Street camera, and communication from the council has been extremely limited.

After speaking with neighbours it appears others may also have experienced similar problems. I will be meeting with local councillor Josie Mullen to discuss these issues, and this short survey aims to understand whether other residents have been affected.

Time to have your say!! Pop your opinions in this survey - should take a couple of minutes, and with your permission I will share with the local councillors.

With thanks, Toni - Priory Way.
